It’s A Baby Shower, Now What?

Baby Shower Games

As I look at the cute little construction paper cut out of a lady bug hanging on my refrigerator. It dawned on me that I had a Baby Shower to make some prize goodies up for some games that they are playing .  I tried to sit back and think of when my kiddos were little.   I only remember having one shower out of the 3 babies. But I have been to a few of them.  You need to take in consideration of your guests that are coming. There are the Game players, or there are those who would rather just sit back in the corner and watch.  Me being an extrovert, well you can guess what type of game player I would be. If  your guests, and of course , mommy to be are a little more Game Friendly, here is a list of a few I found on this amazing Evite website called The PurpleTrail

Name That Nursery Rhyme This is great especially when the New Addition may be having their rooms decorated with Nursery Rhymes.

Help to get the new parents to be up to speed with their nursery rhymes before the baby arrives!  This game is a hit for people of all ages.  We all remember nursery rhymes from our childhood…but just how well to we remember them?  Everyone will enjoy the trip down memory lane that this game provides.  Visit the PurpleTrail Printable Games store to download this game.

Mom Lib – These are always a blast to do. (You might want to add a small reference key if there is a chance your guests don’t know what for instance adverb, adjective, etc.. is. This can save some emberassment later)

Here’s a great little Mad Lib story about Mom-to-be’s Baby Shower day! Break the guests up into teams and have each team create their own unique Mad Lib and watch the fun begin. Optional ending game included for Mom’s who are adopting.  Give each team a work sheet to fill in the word description, without looking at the story. Then the team fills in the story using those same words; and they get a chance to read their crazy creation! Visit for a printable version of this game.

Baby Pictionary  You can modify the rules of this game to fit many different ideas, keep in mind if there is a Theme to the Party.

This game is based upon the original Pictionary board game. Before the shower, place words relating to baby activities and items on small cards. (eg: Changing a diaper, giving birth, feeding time) At the shower, create teams and give each one a pad of paper and pencil. Let one member of the team see a card, then tell then to draw the word or phrase for their partners to guess. Use a timer or just play until someone guesses. When the time is up, the teams total up the number of words they have guessed correctly and the one who has the most wins a prize.

Who Am I? Baby Shower Survey  If everyone knows the Mommy and her Family  really well, someone could even fill it out for the “Baby Daddy” or Siblings.

How well do you really know each other? Take this secret survey and have the Mom-to-be read the answers as the guests try to figure out Who’s Who! A great ice-breaker, even for groups who think they know everything about each other! Check out the printable version at

Baby’s Beautiful Reflection

Is Baby going to be a “chip off the old block,” or a “beautiful reflection” of Mom? Let the laughter roar as guests try to decide which skill or trait Mom and Dad will say they want baby to inherit from them. Great game to play individually or at a couple’s shower.  How to Play: Looking at a list of traits, players mark an X for either Mom or Dad – depending on whom they think Mom wants baby to inherit that trait from. At the same time, Mom is marking her answer sheet with whom she wants baby to inherit that trait from. For a couples shower, split the men into a different group and let Dad mark his answer sheet separately.

Complete the Book Title:  Dr. Seuss Books

This is a great game to play at a baby shower.  Everyone will love reminising about their favorite Dr. Seuss book, and the Mommy-to-be will get to hear all about the books she will soon be reading!  There are so many great book titles – how many will you be able to complete?  Visit the PurpleTrail printable games store to download this game.

Be sure to check out all of PurpleTrail’s baby shower printable games.

I received a post card with authorization code: BK72.
Thank you! For once since I have been responding I am hoping that I could possibly win.

One would think that in a 6 month period of time a large company like PCH -(Publishers Clearing House) would have found and corrected this so called bug.

  2. Joseph N. Wood | Feb 4, 2009 | ReplyDate is: Feb.4 2009 My Authorization Code is PCH78. My only comment isthat MY DOG could design a better system for obtaining the results you want:but not a better one for flustrations

Again, these are comments that were cut and pasted directly from the site. Note the dates and the reoccurring theme here. My question along with thousands of others, Scam or Not?? If anyone has had a different experience, please let us know. I know of at least 589 people who would like to know.

I personally went to their new feature they have out now, The PCH Search Engine. While you are there you are drawn to the temptations of more winning possibilities.
PCHLotto, PCHgames. PCHtrivia, PCHquiz4cash, PCHscratchcards,PCHshareandwin, and the frontrunner, PCHsearch and win. Trying to register in the PCHlotto section, while looks quite inviting, good luck trying to register your DOB. Yes, the Month and Date are easy to submit, but the year box is non functioning. You can not continue playing the lotto game until you have registered. Then you can not complete registration at least for Lotto anyway. I have a feeling that all the noted possible PCH win sites are going to have the same issues.
Do you have any experinces to give us a Glimmer of Hope, that the PCH online sites are on the up and up. Now they do have a winners page that states:
Janna S. From Las Vegas, NV won $50,000.00 playing the PCHLotto

Diane B. from Silver Springs, NY won $500.00

Phillip S. Ocean Springs won $500.00
The list goes on and on. We would just love to hear from someone who actually won. Even when you visit Sweepstake Forums like YDF -(Your Daily Freebies) will have the ocassional posting from those who have won.

In the midst of searching posts and further digging, I did find a redirect that does now lead you to a page where you can actually enter in a code. Now what it does from that point, you are on your own.  I really hope that this long standing household name is on the up & up.  So again, if you have had better luck than the almost 600 people posted, please share it with us.

Who’s BAD….. The Scammers Who Capitalize On The Death Of The King of Pop, That’s Who

Who’s Bad?  Too many to count As the majority of the World is thought to be mourning the Death of the Self Proclaimed “King of Pop” Michael Jackson. We find that is not necessarily true. Unfortunately, Celebrity deaths and Major News items are a Gold Mine for Criminals. While the Average person is now hitting the Internet for information about the event, we are enticed by the spammers to be lured right into their trap.  It was reported that Spam accounts for more than 90% of the emails being sent out. In particular after a major event such as the Death of Michael Jackson.  Jackson’s death came as a surprise to everyone, especially the spammers. But beware as time goes on their malicious programs will become more prominent.

One message searched out on the largest Search Engine looking for “the Last Work of M. Jackson” directs us to a You Tube Video, instead leads you to a password stealing program.  Or , say you are looking for unpublished photos, you are lead  to a click-able link that now installs a password stealing program on your PC. Others may actually have enough legitimate news to keep you drawn in before being led to the malicious link or page.

Celebrity deaths are a potential Gold Mine for criminals. is a leading Domain registry company reported that about 7,500 domain names that can be related to the name of Micheal Jackson, just since his death. Farah Fawcett has had approximately 100. Your guess is as good as anyone else’ s right now as to the validity of them. Not all of these names are purchased with the intentions to create harm. Many of these are purchased in hopes of having a peaked price value of what they may be worth in the future.

Just for the thought of things here, if you have not deleted your old emails yet, go back and see how many “NEW” emails came in claiming to have exclusive information, or secret song lyrics, never before seen photos, or comments “quoted” as being the last known, of something..

These Spammers dwell on our vuneralability, our thirst for finding out gossip, or just the plain old fact of our being a nosey society.  We get so caught up in the news, that we just forget about, usual saftey habits we have in place.

With the dis-heartening about of Celebrity deaths that seem to have occured in such a short amount of time, it leaves us yearning for information as to why. Many people have decided to change the channels on our TVs away from the nightly news. One Mom I spoke with told me that “I am already depressed enough with what is going on in the world with this recession stuff that is going on. I don’t need anything else to scare me or get me upset, moreso than I already am.” That, now lessons “How” you get your information of Current Events.

So how do you protect yourself, or should I say your computer from catching a Virus? Do you see a similarity here to the practise of having Safe Sex? When in all reality, some of the same principles hold true in both instances.

Obviously, abstinance is the safest way to go. Either stay off the computer completely, but that is a little extreme. But you can stay away from “New” sites you have not been to on a regular basis. Received an Email from someone you don’t know? Don’t even sneek a peek at it, just delete it. It is possible for bad stuff to happen by just opening the Email. Ok, so you decide to open the email, “just in case” it is something important. You see a few things there, that have your curiosity up. The URL Link, or return address can either look familiar or seem harmless as it is a big name you hear all the time. Well, what you “see” and where it is going to take you can be 2 different things. For Example, say you have received an Email from let’s say
People Magazine . They are a big name, well known, so it should be harmless to click the link, right? WRONG! Take your mouse pointer and just place it over the the People Magazine Link. As your doing that look at either the bottom left corner under the email, or up in the browser bar. Does it say people Magazine? Nope, it says Bearablescents, my website. So you see how easy the “Bad Guys” can show you one thing, but take you somewhere else. If you cant see what the url is of the link, you can right click on it, and it should also show you what the link address is.

Make sure you share this information with your children, especially the Tweens. They think they are old enough to do things on their own without you looking over their shoulder. But do not yet know much of the dangers of Internet Safety.

So whatever form of Scammery, the Bad ones have sent your way, it is better to be safe than sorry.  Do not download programs or video players so that you can “see or hear” these special/Exclusive files. Avoid links that have just miraculously been sent to you, or your told to download this program or file to make it work.

So now, Who’s Bad? Tell the Smooth Criminals, they can Just Beat It.
